'77th RI Anniversary Gift', Lockheed Martin Releases Photos of the Indonesian Air Force C-130J-30 Super Hercules

Ahead of the 77th Indonesian Independence Day, there seems to be positive news regarding the procurement of the TNI's defense equipment. This one is no longer waiting for an MoU or an effective contract, but its form is already real.

What is meant is the appearance of an official photo of the C-130J Super Hercules ordered by the Ministry of Defense for the Indonesian Air Force in Maryland.

Quoted from Lockheed Martin's Facebook account, it was shown for the first time the figure of the C-130J-30 which will later strengthen the 31st Air Squadron of the Indonesian Air Force. It is said that the aircraft is the first unit of a total of five C-130J units ordered for the Indonesian Air Force. More than that, there is no information about the delivery schedule to Indonesia.

A few months ago, a photo of a C-130J with the Red and White flag circulated in the Lockheed Martin cage, but at that time the plane had not been painted (without a livery), while a recent photo from Lockheed Martin showed the plane had been painted gray with numbers on the side. cockpit "39".

Flashback to September 7, 2021, when KSAU Marshal TNI Fadjar Prasetyo visited the Lockheed Martin Production Facility in Maryland, United States. At that time, the order for the C-130J for the Indonesian Air Force was still in the form of a frame.

Lockheed Martin has precisely released the C-130J in several variants, such as the one acquired by the Indonesian Air Force, namely the C-130J-30 variant called the stretched version with an extra fuselage length of 4.6 meters (long body). There will be two options, namely the C-130J tactical airlifter (standard/short body variant) or the C-130J-30 (long body).

The C-130J-30 can carry a payload of up to 20,000 kg. To transport airborne troops, it can carry 92 paratroopers, while to shift regular troops, it can carry up to 128 soldiers. The cargo hold of the C-130J-30 can be filled with 8 pallets of military cargo.

The capabilities of the C-130J are now increased with the installation of the EVS-3600 enhanced vision system made by Collins Aerospace. The EVS-3600 is a device that offers pilots increased situational awareness when flying in inclement weather conditions or low visibility. To support this capability, a multiple-wavelength camera is installed, where the output from the camera is displayed on a head-up display.

In the future, C-130J operators will benefit greatly from the adoption of this device, notably fewer mission cancellations due to bad weather conditions and easier and more efficient search and rescue operations.
