Russia Shows New Tablet-M-IR Complex, Here's a Line of Sophistication

Russia's defense and technology state-owned Rostec has unveiled its latest mobile artillery control system, the Tablet-M-IR. It serves to automate the use of artillery, mortars, and multiple rocket launchers (MLRS). Not only that, the tablet can also be synchronized with Russian-owned drones to receive information in real time, process it, and send precise coordinates to immobilize targets.

The tablet complex which was developed based on the Tablet-A complex (which incidentally has been launched since 2019 ago) is claimed to be able to immobilize the target in less than one minute, starting from the time real-time information is obtained, processed, and determines the target with precise coordinates.

Besides being able to automate Russian artillery, mortars and MLRS as well as combat drones, the Tablet-M-IR Complex can also be installed in the armored car “Athlete”. The tablet is also integrated with other control systems as well as the “Krasnopol” and “Kitolov” guided missiles, further enhancing the combat capabilities of Russian troops.

“Tablet-M-IR” was developed on the basis of the armored car “Athlete”, but it can also work outside of it,” explained Rostec, as quoted from topwar.ru (17/8/2022).

This certainly strengthens the Russian army on the front lines of war, considering that so far Russia has been more focused on developing intercontinental ballistic missiles with nuclear warheads, ranpurs, hypersonic fighter jets, to hypersonic missiles, and has slightly neglected troop escort technology on the battlefield.

Unfortunately, it is not clear whether this will be used on the nearest battlefield, in this case the battle in Ukraine, or not.

Even so, some sources suspect that Russia is likely to distribute the Tablet-M-IR to their soldiers in Ukraine. In addition to accelerating the targets that Russia wants to achieve in the war against Ukraine, this is also useful for testing it directly on the battlefield before finally being sold en masse if needed.

The arrival of this Tablet-M-IR on the Ukrainian battlefield certainly complements other steps and strategies of Russia, where Russia recently ordered 1,000 combat drones from Iran.

The order is said to be one of the largest in the history of Russian defense equipment transactions to Iran. If there are no more massive countermeasures from the US and its allies, it is not impossible that Iranian-made combat drones can outperform drones made by the US and allies, including Israeli-made drones.
