The Russian invasion of Ukraine has entered its 7th month, but the war still shows no signs of stopping.

Russia claims its troops have launched a "massive attack" on the front lines of the Ukrainian army after being overwhelmed and withdrawing its personnel in several areas of eastern Ukraine.

"Air, rocket and artillery forces carried out massive attacks against units of the Ukrainian armed forces in all operational directions," the Russian Defense Ministry said in its daily briefing on its invasion of Ukraine on Tuesday night.

The Russian Defense Ministry said "high-precision strikes" had also been carried out on a number of Ukrainian army bases around Sloviansk and Konstantinovka, east of Donetsk.

In a separate moment, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov accused Ukrainian forces of also torturing civilians holding out in areas now occupied by Russia.

"There were a lot of punitive measures... people were tortured, people were mistreated and so on," Peskov was quoted as saying by AFP.

The Russian allegations came after Ukrainian authorities claimed to have found the bodies of four civilians with "marks of torture" in the village of Zaliznychne after retaking the area from Moscow forces.
