The Russian Ministry of Defense showed the map in a video during a daily review, on Sunday (11/9). In the map, Russia appears to only control part of the territory in eastern Ukraine, especially behind the Oskil River.
Russian troops are seen leaving the towns of Izium and Svatove in Luhansk after Ukrainian troops began a new offensive eastward through Kharkiv.
"Russia fled and left behind weapons and ammunition. The city center is free," a spokesman for the Ukrainian Army, the Bohun Brigade, said in an official statement over the weekend, quoted by CNN.
In addition, Ukrainian troops managed to liberate more than 40 settlements in Kharkiv. Said it was "regrouping" troops from Kharkiv to Donetsk to focus their military action on Ukraine.
Since early September, Ukraine's defense chief has claimed that troops have reclaimed 3,000 sq km of territory previously occupied by Russian troops.
"Since the beginning of September, more than 3,000 square kilometers have been returned to Ukraine's control," Armed Forces Commander General Valeriy Zaluzhnyi said Sunday. However, the claim could not be independently confirmed by CNN.
