The tarantula is compliant with NATO's STANAG 4569 standard where its ballistic protection is compatible with STANAG 4569 Level 2 for ballistics and artillery. The tarantula is armed with a 12.7 mm RCWS heavy machine gun, in addition there is a smoke grenade thrower for self-defense protection.
After the Tarantula was first announced in February 2021, the vehicle was tested for nine days through 700 km of road and 300 km of off-road testing.
