Denmark Sends Mine Detection Drones To Ukraine

Ukraine has bad experience with land mines, as recently dozens of armored personnel carriers, including the Main Battle Tank (MBT) Leopard 2 and Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) M2 Bradley, fell victim to minefield traps during a counterattack that was launched against the lines of defense of the Russian troops.

Learning from bitter experience, now Ukrainian troops will detect the presence of land mines via drones.

Every landmine planted can now be detected, knowing the position of the mines, the minefields can be destroyed, or cavalry convoys can take other routes.

From the ukrinform.net page, it is said that as part of the aid package from Denmark, the State Special Transport Service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine received a drone with capabilities for technical inspection of areas suspected of being embedded with landmines.

Drones of the quadcopter type can detect magnetic anomalies in the ground, water and surface. The drone is designed to be able to "see" any metal object at depths of up to three meters.

Modern technology allows sappers to remotely scan areas and identify places where explosive objects are located, including other objects that pose a risk to safety.

Drone crew training consisting of two people (operator and pilot) takes place in Denmark. Military personnel study the technical components of the system and undergo practical training using drones in the field.

The Danish Ministry of Defense had earlier handed over six drones for mine scanning as part of an aid package for Ukraine.
