German Naval Yards Showcase Seaguard 96, Germany's Newest Multirole Corvette Design


Kiel-based German Naval Yards Holdings GmbH is rumored to be releasing a new corvette design at the SMM 2022 in Hamburg from 6-9 September. The corvette design was labeled Seaguard 96 and was designed by CMN Naval (a subsidiary of German Naval Yards).


Quoted from navalnews.com (31/8/2022), Seaguard 96 is referred to as an innovative high-end corvette design and is prepared to be able to carry out various missions. 

The corvette is equipped with the latest generation of Combat Management Systems featuring 3D radar as well as a variety of weapon systems and sensors prepared for anti-aircraft and counter-subsurface warfare missions, and a variety of other customizable missions.

The hull shape of the Seaguard 96 has been developed from a proven corvette design with an innovative streamlined bow section for increased maintainability and efficiency at sea. 

The superstructure and structure of the building are characterized by a hidden design with advanced modular technology, with integrated main pylons and flattened side hull compartments. The stern provides an adequate helicopter platform with the presence of a hangar.

The Seaguard 96 corvette has a hull length of 96 meters and a width of 13.5 meters and a weight of about 2000 tons. The corvette is prepared with accommodation for 60 personnel. 

Talking about the propulsion system and power generation, the designer says it can be perfectly adapted to the specifications desired by the buyer.


The Seaguard 96 is equipped with two main diesel engines and CPP propellers, along with four diesel generators, the corvette can reach a maximum speed of 28 knots and is capable of cruising up to 4000 nautical miles (7408 km). More detailed information about Seaguard 86, reportedly will be released on 6 September
